Reservoir Events this Saturday
|
Great News!
We’re again having two Landscape Painting sessions using oil paints. The first is this Saturday, June 19th from 10:00am-12:30pm and the second is next Saturday, June 26th at the same time. Please enter at the Troy Street gate (off Summit and Pershing Plaza). All are welcome who want to attend, but those who attend the first session will have priority for the second session. No painting experience is necessary!
The space is limited to the first 15 people who RSVP cindyhadj@yahoo.com. Interested participants should wear comfortable, light-colored clothing which they don’t mind getting paint on. If you have an easel or palette, please bring it–as well as a folding chair and a pencil. All other supplies will be provided.
Please contact Laura Skolar at 201-259-1800 if you have any further questions or wish to register by phone. We hope to see you!
About our Landscape Painting Class teacher:
Marge Colavito is a graduate of Jersey City Junior College and New York University. Her great passion for art inspired her in 1964 to establish the Upstairs Art Gallery, literally up-the-stairs at 896 Bergen Ave in Jersey City, where she teaches painting classes, frames art, and holds continuing exhibitions.
On her own, Colavito has a number of recognitions and awards for her landscapes, still lifes, and portraits in oil, in a style inspired by the masters of her Italian ancestry. She is a member of the prestigious Salmagundi Club, the American Artists Professional League, the Wesfield Art Association, and also chairs the Hudson Artists of New Jersey.

Fishing Continues at the Reservoir!
Remember that every Saturday at the Reservoir, Andy Gray and the JC Department of Parks and Recreation sponsor fishing.
Fishing gear is available to use for free (catch and release only please!) at the Jefferson Avenue gate from 9am to 2pm. |
WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!
The Reservoir is a community-run park, so we greatly need people to greet at the gates, take names, and help manage the Reservoir on a weekly basis. Please email: voong.johnny@gmail.com, our new Volunteer Coordinator, if you would like to volunteer any non-holiday Saturday this summer. (Note that the Reservoir is generally closed on holiday Saturdays.)
Your help is much appreciated and we look forward to seeing you! |

As you probably know, the Jersey City Reservoir Alliance is comprised of many local organizations (listed here), working toward a common goal of preserving the Reservoir’s lake, meadow and woods from destruction and development.
We often post brief information about the Alliance members’ upcoming events to make our community aware of other opportunities in Jersey City. We hope that our members appreciate this information, and understand that we’re trying to provide support for all areas of interest–in the same way that these other organizations support our cause.

And see you in the Reservoir!
Sincerely,
